The Oklahoma-based Law Office of Dakota C. Low focuses on personal injury, trucking accidents, and complex litigation. As owner and president, Dakota Low leads the firm’s legal strategy while also managing operations and technology decisions. When the firm was considering leaving Clio, the goal was clear: find a centralized, cloud-based solution that would streamline workflows, support personal injury cases more effectively, and eliminate the inefficiencies of switching between multiple systems.
Since adopting Neos, Low has leveraged NeosAI and other Neos features to drive productivity, improve visibility into case data, and reduce repetitive work for himself and his team.
Before adopting Neos, Low and his team relied on Clio, but quickly found the platform limiting especially as the firm shifted focus toward complex personal injury litigation.
“Clio is fine when you're starting out, or if you're very general. But as you grow and you want to customize, Clio just doesn't have that ability.”
Clio’s approach required switching between modules and tabs to handle different practice areas and intake workflows. Even basic field customization became time-consuming and impractical.
“Their customization was very difficult. If I created a new field,I had to re-enter every single field so that the field was in the correct spot. I’m not doing it. I’m not customizing. It takes way too much time.”
Low also found Clio’s integration functionality to be less than ideal.
“They’d say, ‘We have an integration,’ but you’re only getting 10% of the functionality. It was almost just an advertisement.”
One of the biggest time-savers for Low has been generating demand letters using NeosAI. While he notes that the AI-generated drafts sometimes require refinement, he estimates that NeosAI significantly reduces staff time spent on initial drafts.
“My assistant was spending a minimum of four hours, if not more, on a decent demand. Now it saves her usually at least four hours, down to 10 minutes to create the demand letter.”
Low explained that even with some manual edits, he often bypasses his team and generates the demands directly.
“A lot of times I’ll just generate it, and I won’t even have to ask my staff.”
Low makes it a priority to summarize nearly every document uploaded to Neos.
“I try to click the summarize button on every single document that I upload.”
Even before the AI case summary feature was officially launched, he used the AI document summary feature for police reports to then populate case summaries which NeosAI would then use to generate other documents:
“Because it was generally a more concise summary than my staff had done, I would put that into the case summary… It was quite good; helped me get into it quickly.”
For Low, the ability to create specific workflows for different case types, especially governmental tort claims, has been a standout feature.
“It has separate requirements for notices and timelines… the ability to create a different checklist for those deadlines has been helpful.”
He emphasized the importance of building detailed, case-type-specific checklists to ensure nothing falls through the cracks:
“Having a super comprehensive checklist means I can tell my staff to just turn off what doesn’t apply… It’s much better than not having the checklist and getting into the case and then being like, why don’t we have these records?”
Neos’ Outlook Add-In has made it easier to tag emails, save attachments, and stay organized—particularly on mobile.
“The plugin for Outlook works well, especially on mobile.”
I can save documents directly from Outlook. My secretary gets a copy of every email I get, and shes responsible for saving all the documents… so we’re not duplicating files.”
Previously, Low tracked offers and counter-offers using spreadsheets. Now he logs negotiations directly into Neos. This is especially valuable during mediation, where speed and accuracy are essential:
“It’s nice not to have to open a spreadsheet and go, what was the last offer? That's always helpful, especially for mediation. I'm sitting in mediation and I'm entering the amounts, and I'm going, ‘Do I need to slow down my offers, are we? Are we dropping too fast?’ That was really nice.”
Beyond case checklists, Low has configured Neos to support billing, file organization, and legal workflows.
“We use the QuickBooks integration. Haven’t heard any complaints or anything from [my bookkeeper] about ‘you’re screwing stuff up.’”
He’s also using integrations with RingCentral and LawPay and appreciates how seamlessly they work:
“Neos does a lot better in actually integrating the services.”
Unlike Clio, which required logging into separate services, Neos integrations are fully functional within the platform.
Neos has helped The Law Office of Dakota C. Low operate more efficiently without compromising on customization or control. The platform supports complex litigation workflows, personal injury tracking, and financial tools—all within one centralized system.
“The idea was to have everything in one spot centralized. Neos does it right.”
The ability to automate demand letters, streamline checklists, access files from anywhere, and reduce manual tracking has made a measurable difference in daily operations. And as Dakota and his team continue exploring NeosAI, the potential for even greater time savings and scalability is clear.
“I try to get my staff to do as much of [the summarizing] as they can… It’s helpful.”
