LawNext Interview with Bob Ambrogi: Jonah Paransky, CEO of Assembly Software

Jonah Paransky on Assembly's Vision: Combining Workflow and AI for Plaintiff Law Firms

Assembly Software's new CEO discusses the unique opportunity to bridge traditional case management with AI capabilities in this Law Next interview with Bob Ambrogi.

Bob Ambrogi: Welcome to Law Next PR, the podcast where we put a spotlight on the latest news coming out of the legal tech industry. This is Bob Ambrogi. And in each episode of Law Next PR, I interview a legal tech company about its latest news and developments. Today, I have the pleasure of speaking with an old friend, Jonah Paransky, who has just been named chief executive officer of Assembly Software, a leading legal tech company for plaintiff law firms. Jonah, welcome to the show.

Jonah Paransky: Bob, it's a true pleasure to be here. It's very exciting to be reconnecting here on the show today.

Bob: It's great to see you. I haven't seen you for a few years because you kind of left the legal tech world for a few years and you're coming back. But congratulations on this.

Jonah: Thank you, it's very exciting to be back. I've always been a multi-verticalized business-to-business specialist. Most of my career has been in vertical software, primarily legal, but also marketing technology, information security, and hospitality. It feels like coming home. This is a particularly interesting time for legal tech, and coming back now is exciting.

Bob: Why don’t you tell us more about your background before returning to Assembly?

Jonah: The first half of my career was product management and marketing leadership in B2B software, mainly information security and IT operations. In 2009, I joined LexisNexis, leading Small Law Practice Management, Counseling, and later the Business of Law Software group, including enterprise legal management and law firm marketing technology. After six to seven years there, I moved into hospitality software, then returned to legal tech at Wolters Kluwer as EVP and GM of the ELM business. I later served as CEO of a private equity-backed marketing technology company and most recently helped grow a large UK-based software company in the Americas.

Bob: What brought you back to legal tech and Assembly specifically?

Jonah: The market. Legal tech is changing faster than ever, driven by AI’s ability to solve real legal work. Assembly sits in a unique position—between traditional case management and emerging AI tools. Plaintiff law firms often use AI tools separately from their workflow systems. Assembly has the opportunity to bring those together into one frictionless experience.

Bob: What opportunities do you see for Neos in the AI era?

Jonah: We’re still early. AI can accelerate workflows by automating summaries, updates, and task management. It can also help firms do more work—like creating demand letters and medical chronologies—directly within the workflow. Neos is positioned to deliver both workflow AI and deliverable AI together.

Bob: How does Neos differentiate itself among new AI-focused competitors?

Jonah: New AI vendors are doing important work, but the future is integration. Firms don’t want to move data between systems. They want AI embedded directly into case management, with full case context. That’s the opportunity for Neos—to combine workflow and AI into one seamless experience.

Bob: What challenges do you see with AI adoption?

Jonah: Trust. Lawyers need to know AI outputs are accurate and compliant. Vendors must make it easy to validate AI-generated content. Plaintiff firms have an advantage because they’re not constrained by the billable hour, allowing them to adopt AI more freely. Off-the-shelf AI tools aren’t sufficient for legal use—purpose-built legal tech matters.

Bob: What are your goals for Assembly?

Jonah: Over the next year, our goal is to truly crack the combination of workflow and AI to drive better outcomes. We’re also focused on using AI internally to improve customer experience and team productivity.

Bob: Will Assembly stay focused on the plaintiff market?

Jonah: Likely yes, but we’re evaluating where we can deliver the most value. Strong vertical software companies focus deeply rather than broadly. We want to be clear about where Neos is the right fit and where it’s not.

Bob: Any closing thoughts?

Jonah: Assembly has an incredible legacy and has successfully transitioned to the cloud. I’m excited to lead the company at this inflection point and work closely with customers and employees to drive the next phase of growth.

Bob: Congratulations and welcome back to legal tech.

Jonah: Thank you, Bob. It’s been a pleasure.
